Easy2Recruit has launched a graduate scheme aimed at helping UK workshops respond to the continuing shortage of skilled people. The programme focuses on qualified candidates who are already living in the UK and have relevant automotive or engineering knowledge, yet have found it difficult to secure work that properly matches their background.
Instead of leaving those candidates to navigate the transition alone, the scheme places them into real workshop positions where they can develop practical, UK-specific experience. Employers can shape that on-the-job learning around the requirements of their own operation, helping a graduate turn an existing technical foundation into the capability needed for day-to-day work.
At the time of the announcement, 12 placements had already been completed. The roles included vehicle technicians, maintenance engineers, service advisers and sales-support staff, showing that the scheme can support several parts of a workshop business rather than a single job type.
Easy2Recruit also guides employers through compliance, onboarding and longer-term career development. That support is intended to make the placement process easier for the business while giving each candidate a clearer route into stable employment and continued professional growth.
Founder and chief executive Ambi Singh described a disconnect between the talent that is available and the practical requirements workshops face. Many graduates have automotive or engineering qualifications and, in some cases, substantial hands-on experience gained overseas, but they may not know how to translate that background into the expectations of the UK employment market.
The company sees its role as bridging that divide: identifying people with the right foundations, helping them become work-ready and connecting them with businesses looking for dependable staff rather than a temporary solution. By making better use of talent already present in the country, Easy2Recruit believes the industry can respond to the shortage in a more constructive way.
The scheme forms part of a wider effort to strengthen the long-term resilience of the automotive aftermarket workforce. Its central idea is that qualified people and employers with vacancies can both benefit when development, onboarding and career planning are brought together in one structured pathway.
